Ecological farm

Our history

"The story goes back to 1937, when my grandfather, Primo Coghi Ferrari, bought part of this farm.

At that time, problems such as malaria, the impossibility of cultivating in some parts due to the swamps and the anthill of zompopas and gopher made the work very complicated.

At that time, the farm produced yucca and every afternoon a truck would leave that my grandfather would drive to the towns of Paraíso, Cartago and San José. The problem started when they stopped selling him fuel for being an immigrant, which caused him to have to sell part of the production to a merchant. In addition, the farm began to stop being profitable and he was forced to try other types of crops such as beans and tobacco, with which he also had no luck.

My grandfather, father of 7 children, had to find a way to get ahead and decided to repair an abandoned mill on the farm to start producing sweet or panela. He bought carts and oxen to transport it, but when it arrived at the market the merchants did not agree and the price they paid was so low that they could not afford to live.

He decided then to buy a business in the market and at that moment the story changed. The business began to grow and in the fifties my grandfather managed to consolidate a 150 hectare farm called Agraria Cañera Ajenjal SA

When my grandfather died they decided to close the sugar mill and divide the land.

Since then, my father Coghi Carlos and I Coghi Giancarlo, having a 20-hectare farm, decided to move forward by innovating in agricultural production systems.

In honor of the Municipality of Magnacavallo in the province of Mantova, Italy and the canton of Paraíso, Costa Rica, places of origin where our family comes from, we dedicate all our effort and passion for this land. "
