Valle de Ujarass 1.jpg

At 3.7 km by road we find the Ujarrás Valley. A place where tranquility and greenery abound in presence. In the middle of a pleasant park, they find these ruins, built in the seventeenth century. Admission is free and you can enjoy a walk with the best views, a clean and safe place. Nearby you can enjoy some restaurants or if you decide, you can even take your own picnic. Inside this, we can find the Ruins of Ujarrás.

Ujarrás Valley

Built in 1973 by Franciscans and dedicated to San José, it is one of the oldest monuments in the country, it remains in perfect condition. Currently a religious museum is located in it. Since 1920 it has been an architectural heritage of Costa Rica and in 1985 it was declared a National Monument. The museum opens from Tuesday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 to 5 p.m.

Taking Highway 304 for 1 hour and 30 minutes we will arrive at the Turrialba Volcano, which gives its name to the National Park to which it belongs. It is the second highest volcano in Costa Rica, only surpassed by the Irazú Volcano. Its area is approximately 500 km². It is one of the most active volcanoes in the country. "The entrance to the volcano is only for walkers in groups of 35 people maximum." According to legend, some bride and groom were celebrating their wedding with their friends, they went horseback riding to the Irosí Valley. After a beautiful evening and a toast from the groom to the bride, they began the walk home. The groom's horse got scared and jumped into the void. Along with the horse the bride went. You can visit the waterfall, just 8 minutes from Finca Sermide
